Arrange a commemerative shrine facing east on the west side of the room where you plan to do the magickal ritual. You will need a photograph of the deceased, veiled with a dark cloth, flank with flowers ( don't forget to change them from time to time.), and any object links or personal momentos of the deceased that you have.
At midnight on every one of the preparatory nights, seal yourself in your place of magickal working, light one of your candles in the east of the room, unveil the portrait, light the incense, and sit in front of the picture with the light streaming from behind you. Inwardly call the name of the person while keeping your eyes fixed on the picture. Try to recall incidents where you shared moments of affection and love with the deceased. Continue this meditation for 10 minutes to one hour. When you are done, extinguish the candle and re-drape the portrait.
On the night of the ritual, do not eat or drink anything after sunset. Prepare a meal that was a favorite of the deceased prior to the midnight ritual. You may also include a favorite beer or wine of the deceased.
Just before midnight cover your altar table with a fresh white, exorcised cloth, and place a chair at the west side of the table facing east, and one opposite, facing west. Place a sweet smelling bouquet of flowers on the table, two white candles, the picture of the deceased, and your incense holder burning the special incense.
Consecrate the area you will be working in, walking backwards beginning in the east, cleansing with consecrated salt water and incense as you go in a clockwise circle, calling upon the Goddess (Aphrodite, Habondia or other Goddess of love). Be careful to do everything in silence and backwards while performing this ritual.
Place two settings at the table, your in the east, and the deceased's in the west. You should use your ordinary plates and silverware, which was consecrated with water, salt and fire. Proceed to serve your food walking backwards as you do so, you only need a small amount for the deceased as it is only a symbolic gesture. Allow sufficient time for the first half of this ritual in order to reach this point at midnight.
As the hour of midnight arrives, slowly unveil the picture of the deceased making sure you walk backwards, and mentally repeat this incantation:
By the mysteries of the deep,
by the flames of banal,
by the power of the east,
by the silence of the night,
And by the holy rites of Hecate,
I call thee by the ties of love,
Spirit of (name of deceased),
to break thy eternal fast with me.
So Mote it be!
Replenish the incense, move backwards clockwise around the table, sit down in your seat and proceed to eat supper. As you do so, avoid looking directly at the seat opposite you. This is very important! If you break this rule it will nullify the ritual.
When you finish your meal leave the dishes as they are, walking backwards replenish the incense, extinguish the candles at the portrait, while you avoid looking directly at the deceased' chair, while you return to your own. Close your eyes, call the deceased' name 3 times, and then mentally chant: "Allay Fortission, Fortissio Allynson Roa!"
With your eyes still shut, mentally welcome your loved one. This is the time when the shade of the loved one usually manifests. Slowly open your eyes to see what you can see. Whether you are able to see the shade of the deceased depends upon your level of magickal development. Communication with the dead can be carried out mentally, sort of a wordless communication, or a blending of your ideas and the deceased'. Take the time to enjoy this silent communication. When you are finished or when the experience begins to dwindle like a dream, and the magickal current diminishes, repeat the license to depart silently to the deceased:
Go, go, departed shade (name of deceased),
by Omgroma Epin Sayoc,
Satony, Degony, Eparigon,
Galiganon, Zagogen, Fersitgon,
we license thee depart into the proper place
and be there love between us evermore.
So mote it be!
